Conservation in day to day life..!

Need of the hour is to conserve petroleum and gas by its judicious use and protection of environment. In house conservation methods are installation of waste heat recovery systems, utilization of non-conventional energy resources and close monitoring of conservation efforts. It also comprises replacement of low efficiency boilers, installation of heat exchangers, economizers and co-generation equipment, adoption of improved house keeping practices and vapour recovery system.
At the domestic level we as an individual can take steps like usage of wide bottom vessel while cooking, after taking out the food from refrigerator leaving it to be at room temperature then there after heating, soak cereals before cooking and use just enough water, reduce flame as it starts boiling, cookers with separators save fuel, eating together to avoid rapid warming, lighting of flame once each and every preparation is made before hand, solar water heaters to heat water, solar cookers, set up of gobar gas plant at rural areas, electric hot plates,,nutan hurricane lanterns by indian oil for better illumination and fuel conservation or electric lamp or solar lanterns can also be used.
While travelling if certain enlisted points are kept in mind then we can avoid wastage of oil.First of all one must curtail wasteful driving, use of public transport, using two wheeler if satisfactory and pool vehicles, turn off the engine at signals, purchasing fuel efficient vehicles, checking injector spark plug, correct tyre pressure, regreasing and renewal of lubricant for engine and gear boxes, using quality lubricants, proper driving habits and emission control check.
By the oil industries there have been various awareness campaigns where everytime they introduce some glow signs, posters.Information like subsidies loans for buses, furnaces, efficient boilers by OIDB,alternate energy sources, advantages of solar heaters and cookers,lanterns,gobar-gas plants etc is also circulated in general. For example in district solan,sultanpur,jaisalmer-'nutan' fuel efficient stove is used on a large scale. The only option left out with us is to conserve today because tomorrow is going to be late.
A simple concept lets us know that demand is directly proportional to supply. In the year 1800 there were just 1 billion users which increased to 6.5 billion in year 2000 and for the year 2050 it is expected to be around 8-12 billion. Here a simpler concept tells us that these resources are supposed to end up in upcoming 25 years!!!
The gas engines we have used in our cars in the past century have been horribly inefficient, only one-third of the total energy in gallon of gas provides motive power. The rest is lost as heat in the cooling systems or out of the tail-pipe.
There are several artificial methods to produce oil and gas some of them are thermal conversion process,bio-mass catalytic process, plasma glassification etc.We can convert billion of tons of waste products and garbage produced every year into oil and gasoline products rather than burying them into ground. It will provide enough to meet our current and near future needs.Other forms of materials include agricultural wastes, seewage sludge, millions of old tyres, fast growing renewable junk crops, algae and plastics.
By using vehicles with fuel economies at reasonable cost we could raise the number of vehicles four times the existing data.We could trade oil dependence for lithium dependence using hybrid cars.Blolivia has half the known reserves of lithium in the world and Afghanistan may have a lot as well.
A large amount of energy is spent for the transportation of produced food. Methods to produce abundant food closer to urban center where it is needed will reduce our fuel need in that very concern. Methods like critical farming or aquaponics can be adopted.Fuel shortage in days to come can be a reason of grid-lock,famine,war and pestilence.
Conservation is a state of harmony between men and land sooner it is achieved more promising our future becomes.
